Going traditional camping for Father’s Day with my family

Having a “day” to celebrate just being yourself is not really necessary, but, it does feel great for what it’s worth. Just like the beautiful, strong, and intelligent Mothers in the world who inspire us!

Father’s Day is this coming weekend and I’m really looking forward to the most simple of things. Something that does not cost really anything in spending quality time with my wife and son. Of all things, we’re going to take a boat (rented) as a gift from my beautiful wife on Friday to enjoy some time at Portage Lakes just outside of Akron, Ohio. The peace from the water, sunshine, and friendly others passing by is worth “a million bucks” in my opinion.

Furthering the idea of a simple and perfect weekend of enjoyment I want to do something that I honestly have not really done since being a teenager. Going camping. Not the norm today most know in renting a fancy cabin, having internet and power. But simple. Tent camping.

While, yes, it's going to be at a campground where they have things like basketball, swimming, hiking, and biking trails, it still will encompass the simple parts of life in just having a small plot of ground, a tent, some cooking supplies and a fire to get us by for the night.

This is something that I dreamed my father would have done with me more often. Its a memory that I hope to instill not only with my wife as we’re always so busy with the day to day of “normal life” but as well my 4-year-old son, Carter. Who I want to still know the simplicity of life itself.

Things from camping, hiking, riding bikes outside all day, getting his hands dirty without being afraid.

As Father’s Day weekend approaches, I hope you all have an amazing and safe time!
