How an Artist Manager shifted focus to the “New Music Business”
Like many, the last year has posed quite a challenge. Musicians have not been touring and things are ever-changing in the “new music industry”
10 And 8 Management President Nicholas Mishko has made a pivot and announced the formation of a new publishing + licensing venture titled Ommco.
With the pandemic bringing a renewed sense of urgency to earn continued income for his clients, Mishko has been busy working sync deals for numerous artists and labels which include bands like Along Came A Spider, Everyone Dies In Utah, and record label LEGEND Recordings.
Mishko says “the licensing space is a growing opportunity for many artists, where, like every part of the music business, relationships are key.”
Spending numerous years working on the publishing side of things at Abkco, Mishko learned how he can help artists make sure they’re fully registered worldwide and being properly compensated.
“If a music supervisor is looking for a specific song for a particular movie or video game or tv show, they are looking for the perfect fit. It’s almost the final frontier where it’s really all about the music,” says Mishko
With an extensive background in royalties, licensing, and publishing. Nick Mishko has had success in sync and getting back royalties has always been a specialty of his.
2021 Celebrates Mishko’s 13th year in the music business. Having launched his 10 and 8 Management firm in 2012, at hardly 20-something.
He says while he’s fully committed and has his heart 100% in artist management, he’s eager to help the numerous labels and managers who have reached out pitching their clients for help with licensing and cleaning up their royalties.
