How I define being “Rich”

I’m turning 34 years old on March 7th. Like everyone else on this planet, I’ve seen and done a lot of things. Had lots of ups and downs and at this point in my life, feel I’m starting to understand the true purpose.

When you’re a kid the things you see on television or for children in today’s world, the internet can inspire and influence you in many ways. I remember watching MTV at around 5 years old and wanting to be a rockstar. Who wouldn’t especially in like, 1993?!

Even though I was raised in a lower-middle-class family the thought was always a thing “I want to be rich someday”

Who hasn't said it at some point in their life? The thing was back then, I thought that being “rich” meant that you had a ton of money in your bank and fast cars or a large house. Little did I not know or understand until much later in life that those things don’t mean you’re “rich” in fact- at all.

First, you have to take a step back from what the media and internet shove in your face on a daily basis. The definition of their success. The fancy places, cars, money. All of those things are useless if you are not truly happy within yourself.

Physical items I learned over time in fact were just that- physical things. They could come or go at any time. What I started to think about was what being rich meant to me, deep down. It turns out, it had nothing to do with money. Being rich to me means having the freedom to explore at any time, to make memories with anyone, and not feel stuck in one place forever. The fact that you can create and follow ideas to reality earning revenue for what you love. Having a beautiful loving wife and son. These are all things to me that make me “Rich”

You must understand and use your surroundings to your advantage in today’s world. You can literally work from anywhere with the power of technology. No longer do you have to be stuck at a routine or mundane 9 to 5 inside.

I could have literally $1 to my name but with this knowledge and my family’s love. I’d still be “rich”. You must again, take a step back. Look within yourself and define what your own rich means. To some, it might be having a lot of money. But more often than not- if you are not happy within- even a large amount of money or a mega-mansion won’t fill that void.
